Rosetta Space Probe Studying 67P Comet Starts Final Manoeuvre

The European Space Agency’s (ESA’s) Rosetta space probe has completed its mission and the final collision manoeuvre has been initiated, the ESA announced.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The space probe is expected to complete the planned collision with the comet ending its mission on Friday, September 30.

​Rosetta was launched on March 2, 2004 to study comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko. The spacecraft reached the comet in August, 2014 and started orbiting it.
