Nearly 2,600 Ford Transit Connect vehicles sold in North America are being voluntarily recalled because a faulty bond could cause the sunroof to fly off while driving, Ford Motor Co. said in a press release.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Ford said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries caused by the problem.

"In the affected vehicles, an improper bond may exist between the panoramic roof and the vehicle body, resulting in wind noise, water leaks and, in some cases, separation from the vehicle," the release on Wednesday explained. "If the entire panoramic roof separates from the vehicle while driving, it can increase the risk of crash or injury."

Affected in the recall are 2014 Transit Connect sport-utility vehicles manufactured at Ford’s assembly plant in Valencia, Spain between October 2013 and July 2014, according to the release.

A total of 2,592 vehicles are affected, including 887 sold in the United States, Ford’s release noted.
