Flawed Intelligence Could Hinder US-Russia Military Cooperation in Syria
NEW YORK (Sputnik) — Plans by the United States and Russia to share information on terrorist targets in Syria does not raise concerns but instead reveals a shared interest in defeating extremism, UK Minister for Africa and the Middle East Tobias Ellwood told Sputnik.

“The bigger picture is that we have a process in place to share intelligence to make sure that we can defeat extremism in Syria, and that is what we are all focused on,” Ellwood said Wednesday at a counterterrorism event on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

Ellwood, who is also a legislator in the UK House of Commons, stated that he is not concerned that the United States, a key ally of his government, would be sharing intelligence with Russia.

Earlier Wednesday, US Secretary of State John Kerry addressed the UN Security Council and said preparations were being made to achieve military and intelligence cooperation with Russia concerning operations in Syria.
