A man was arrested in London’s Heathrow airport on suspicion of possessing terrorist related material, the London Metropolitan Police said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – According to the statement issued Sunday, the man, suspected of "possessing terrorist related material" was taken to a police station where he remains in custody.

"A man has been arrested for an offence under the Terrorism Act. The 39-year-old man was arrested after arriving at Heathrow Airport on Saturday, 17 September," the statement read.

The incident is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command, the statement read.
