Syrian Army Regains Ground Near Deir ez-Zor After US-Led Coalition Hit - Source

The Syrian army has restored control over a military airport near the city of Deir ez-Zor after a US-led coalition airstrike killed dozens of Syrian soldiers in the area, a military source told Sputnik on Saturday.

DAMASCUS (Sputnik) — The attacks by the coalition planes near the Deir ez-Zor airport were first reported by the Syrian army earlier on Saturday. The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the attacks saying Daesh (the Islamic State/IS, banned in Russia) started an offensive following the attacks.

"The Syrian army has regained its positions which were lost following the US-led international coalition strike near the Deir ez-Zor airport," the source said.
