The Russian Embassy in Kiev sent a note of protest to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry after the attack on its headquarters.

KIEV (Sputnik) — The Russian Embassy in Kiev sent a note of protest to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry following the attack on its headquarters on Saturday night, demanding to ensure the safety of the Russian diplomatic mission, according to a representative of the Embassy.

"In connection with the night attack, the Russian embassy in Kiev sent a protest note to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry demanding to investigate the incident and ensure the safety of the Russian diplomatic mission," the representative told RIA Novosti.

The Russian Embassy in Kiev confirmed on Saturday that about 20 individuals had attacked its building with smoke pellets and fireworks.

According to the Kiev police, no one was injured in the attack, though the embassy building has sustained insignificant damage. The investigation of the incident is underway.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman called the attack an insignificant incident, though unacceptable.
