The security measures will be tightened around government agencies on the parliament election day in Moscow, the police patrol routes will include polling stations, important sites and transport hubs while the voting stations will be searched by police dogs, according to an official statement.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — More than 30,000 people will ensure security on the parliament election day in Moscow along with the tightening of security measures around the city, a spokesman for the Moscow Department of Russia's Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Friday.

"More than 30,000 people, including 10,000 Moscow policemen, 2,000 National Guard soldiers, 700 students of the Moscow University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 15,000 public order volunteers and Cossacks, as well as 2,800 private security firm staff will secure polling stations," the spokesman told RIA Novosti.

According to the police, the security measures will be tightened around government agencies, the police patrol routes will include polling stations, important sites and transport hubs while the voting stations will be searched by police dogs.

On September 18, Russian nationals will elect the Russian parliament's lower chamber of 450 seats. Half of the lawmakers will be elected from the party lists, while another 225 seats are contested in single-member constituency race.
