KUBINKA (Sputnik) – He said that underwater glider robots are using a new way of moving in water – gliding owing to changing buoyancy and trim.

“The Defense Ministry showed interest in some samples demonstrated at the [Kubinka military] exhibition, for example, sea root. We will elaborate and use it in the future,” Popov told RIA Novosti.

The complex is designed to gather oceanographic information and retransmitting commands to submerged objects.

The underwater 150-kilogram (330 pounds) robot may carry up to 15 kilograms payload and has the speed of 1-2 knots.
