KIEV (Sputnik) – Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has relieved head of the Kiev Regional State Administration Maxim Melnychuk of his post, a decree on the president’s website says.
"To dismiss Maxim Melnychuk from the post of the head of the Kiev Regional State Administration in accordance with his application," the Friday decree says.
Melnychuk applied for resignation earlier this month, amid a bribe scandal involving deputy head of the Kiev regional state administration.
On September 1, Kiev launched an online system aimed at the declaration of assets to prevent corruption.
The launch of the system is one of the requirements of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that need to be met in order for the fund to continue providing Kiev with financial assistance.
