Russian President Vladimir Putin accepted the resignation of Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights Pavel Astakhov, the Kremlin said Friday, and appointed a new official.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Astakhov’s resignation after returning from vacation has been confirmed by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov in July.

"Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree dismissing Pavel Astakhov from the post of Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights at his own request," the Kremlin’s press service said.

Anna Kuznetsova has been appointed new Commissioner.

"Russian President Vladimir Putin had a conversation with Kuznetsova in the Kremlin earlier," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Kuznestova, a mother of six, heads the "Pokrov" charity supporting the family, motherhood and childhood, as well as the association protecting organizations in defense of families. She leads regional All-Russia People's Front executive committee.
