Russian Surfer Rescued After Surviving 24 Hours on the Open Sea

The crew of a cargo ship rescued a Russian surfer, who survived 24 hours in the open sea, according to officials from Maritime Rescue Service.

The “Yokohama” motor ship (under the flag of Togo) was on route from Rostov-on-Don to the Turkish port of Samsun.

Fifty miles (80 kilometers) south of the Crimean port of Kerch, the crew boarded a woman who was swept out to the open sea while surfing.

According to preliminary data, the Russian surfer had been at sea for an entire day.

A rescue ship delivered the victim to the port of Taman, where the lady was passed to doctors. Thankfully, the surfer’s condition was described as satisfactory.

Earlier in August, Odessa frontier guards rescued a stalled holiday cruiser. To their surprise, the former president of the Moldavian Republic, Igor Smirnov, was in the boat. Igor Smirnov was in office from 1991 to 2011.
