The implementation of the so-called Asian energy super ring project, which prescribes an integration of some Asian states' energy systems, is possible, though a fundamental study is required before taking final decisions, Russian Deputy Energy Minister Anton Inyutsyn told Sputnik on Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) kicked off on Russky Island, near the eastern Russian city of Vladivostok, where the energy cooperation projects of Russia with Asian-Pacific countries are expected to be discussed. The forum, which is due to run through Saturday, is expected to attract some 2,500 participants, from countries including China, Japan, South Korea, India, Vietnam, Australia, the United States and Singapore.

"If the sides have interest and benefits, the project has chances to be implemented. The sides' consent as well as unification of investments and qualifications are not the only things necessary for implementation of the projects, which also demands fundamental study of technical and economic indicators, risks assessment, regulatory and pricing issues and many others," Inyutsyn said.

Russia, Japan to Develop Energy Cooperation 'in All Areas'
The Asian energy super ring project prescribes the unification of energy systems of Russia, Japan, South Korea, China and Mongolia. This ring is expected to consist of separate energy bridges, one of which can connect Russia's Sakhalin with Japan.

According to Inyutsyn, it is too early now to take some certain decisions, because the most important thing is to realize the economic efficiency of the project and the potential for cooperation.
