Thailand Boosts Foreign Embassies Security Ahead of Constitutional Vote
BANGKOK (Sputnik) – Earlier this month, the Thai population voted in favor of a new constitution in a referendum. The first elections run according to the new electoral legislation and new constitution, stipulating among other things that the 250-seat upper house of parliament be directly appointed by the military government, should be held in November-December next year.

“Anyone can become a prime minister, we have a lot of decent people in our country who are capable of working in this position, who will cope with it better than me. But if you do not find a suitable candidate, come to me,” Gen. Chan-o-cha said, when asked whether we would like to return as prime minister after the election, as quoted by the Kom Chad Luek daily.

Chan-o-cha, who became prime minister as a result of a military coup in 2014, has repeatedly claimed that he is not a politician and does not intend to become one.
