US Authorities Discover 15th Case of Non-Travel Related Zika in Florida
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s falsely claimed that her Republican opponent Donald Trump had called the Zika epidemic an insignificant problem during an appearance in the city of Miami, the fact checking news site FactCheck.org reported.

"Trump himself has called Zika a ‘big problem’," the report noted.

Clinton told supporters in an appearance in Miami earlier this week that she disagreed with those who say that Zika is an insignificant issue.

"My opponent in this race, his campaign officials have said that, and I think that does a grave disservice," the report quoted Clinton as saying when describing her opponent’s views of Zika.

When FactCheck contacted the Clinton campaign, they were told that an individual named Juan Fiol had told the Boston Globe newspaper in June that the Trump campaign had bigger mosquitoes to squash than Zika.

Fiol is a Trump supporter, but he does not appear on any list of Trump staffers and advisers that are included in periodic campaign finance reports, the report said.

More than 20 people have been infected by bites from infected mosquitoes Miami area. The remaining 1,800 cases of Zika in the United States have been traced to returning travelers.
