New tropical storm Javier formed off Mexico’s Pacific coast on Sunday, while the death toll from the hurricane Earl reaches 38, local media reports.

Earl hit Belize and the Yucatan Peninsula, brought heavy rain and deadly landslides across eastern Mexico. The natural disaster killed 28 people in Puebla and 10 people in the state of Veracruz.

"As of now, at least 10 people have died in Veracruz and 28 people in Puebla as a result of Tropical Storm Earl," National Civil Protection Coordinator Luis Puente wrote on his Twitter page.

On Thursday, the storm was downgraded to a tropical depression, though it caused damages to a number of Central American countries. Thousands of Belize nationals have been left without access to electricity.

The new storm Javier will concentrate on Mexico's Baja California Sur, causing heavy rain and winds at the beginning of the week, moving from the Mexico mainland.
