Attempted Coup Cost Turkey Over $100Bln, Figures to Increase - Trade Minister
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Foreign powers were involved in the recent coup attempt in Turkey, the country's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Tuesday.

"I have to say that this was done by foreign powers. This was not done only domestically…the scenario was written outside of Turkey," Erdogan said in an address broadcast by TRT.

On July 15, an attempted coup took place in Turkey, and was suppressed by the following day. Over 240 people were killed during the coup attempt and an estimated 2,000 were wounded. Ankara has accused US-based dissident Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen and his followers of having played a key role in the coup. Gulen has denied the accusations.
