China, Russia Should Create Dialogue Platform for Innovative Cooperation – Envoy
Beijing and Moscow will benefit from tighter cooperation on energy and innovation if they set up a platform for dialogue, the Chinese ambassador to Russia said Tuesday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Li Hui proposed that Russia and China work closer together in energy projects "by integrating upstream and downstream segments and forming joint production chains."
"We need to have an active discussion on how to create a Chinese-Russian platform for dialogue on innovation to turn innovation into a powerhouse of our bilateral cooperation," Li told reporters in Moscow.
The diplomat suggested that the two neighbors deepen their strategic partnership, specifically in the adjacent provinces of Russia’s Far East.
Russia and China have been stepping up economic cooperation in recent years, reversing the negative trend in trade. In the first half of 2016, they saw a 1.8-percent rise in trade flows year-on-year, or more than $31 billion.
