Kirchner: US Citizens to Vote 'for the Lesser of Two Evils'

Former Argentinian President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner told Sputnik that she believes there is no unity or clear support for one presidential candidate within the US public.

EL CALAFATE (Argentina), (Sputnik) — The 2016 US presidential election will take place in November.

"[Presidential] elections will be soon held in the United States and there are two candidates: [Donald] Trump and Hillary Clinton. According to the opinion polls, 57-58 percent would not vote for Trump. 52-53 percent for Hillary. In other words, more than a half of Americans do not like both presidential candidates, so they will not vote for someone who they support…but for the lesser of two evils," de Kirchner said.

Kirchner is accused of defrauding the state of over $5 billion. She allegedly manipulated the central bank to set an artificially low rate for dollar sales on futures markets. Central bank president Alejandro Vanoli and former Economy Minister Axel Kicillof were charged alongside the nation’s deposed leader in May.

Earlier in July, Argentina's federal judge Claudio Bonadio ordered to arrest all her assets.
