MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The lifting of the provisional suspension of the Rio lab’s accreditation was approved by Craig Reedie, Chairman of WADA’s Executive Committee, the statement said, adding that the reinstatement allows the Rio Laboratory to resume anti-doping analysis on urine and blood samples with immediate effect.
"All parties worked diligently to resolve the identified issue so that the Laboratory could be up and running optimally for the Rio Olympic and Paralympic Games that start on 5 August," WADA Director General Olivier Niggli said as quoted in a Wednesday WADA release.
The Rio lab’s accreditation was suspended last month over non-conformity with the International Standard for Laboratories (ISL). The suspension took effect on June 22.
Rio de Janeiro is due to host the Summer Olympic Games on August 5-21, 2016.
