The draft bill was supported by Greece’s ruling left-wing Syriza party but was heavily criticized by the opposition. It aims to cancel the 50 bonus seats given to the party that wins the most seats in the national elections and lowers the voting age by one year, to 17.

Syriza promised to cancel the 50-seat bonus in the run-up to the previous elections in Greece.
