IOC to Halt Suspending Russian Team From Rio Olympics Until CAS Hearing
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — This week, the CAS heard an appeal by the ROC against a ban on Russian athletes by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

It is expected to deliver the verdict on Thursday, which will affect the decision by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on whether Russians can go to the games in Rio in August.

"The CAS judgment will be crucial to deciding what will happen next. This decision will affect our athletes but it will undoubtedly set a precedent for everything else," ROC President Alexander Zhukov told reporters after the Committee’s executive board meeting.

The IOC said Tuesday that it would take the CAS ruling into consideration when it decides on a possible collective ban for the Russian team, after a report by an independent expert panel implicated Russian athletes and sports officials in an alleged state-run doping scheme.
