Iraq Can Play Mediation Role Between Syria, Turkey

Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Jaafari stated that Iraq being in the middle of Syria and Turkey can do some mediation and can work on improving the relations with these countries.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Iraq is well-positioned in the Middle East to play the role of a mediator between Syria and Turkey, Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Jaafari said at the US Institute of Peace in Washington, DC on Monday.

"We maintain relations with Syria and we maintain relations with Turkey," Jaafari stated. "Iraq being in the middle of these countries can do some mediation and can work on improving the relations with these countries.”
