The police checks were conducted in the Bulgaria's capital of Sofia, and were ongoing in several parts of the city, according to local media.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Bulgarian police detained about 100 people in an operation to counter irregular migration on July 18-19, local media reported Tuesday, citing the country's Interior Ministry.

According to the Sofia Globe newspaper, the police checks were conducted in the capital of Sofia, and were ongoing in several parts of the city.

Undocumented migrants were taken to police stations so their identities and reasons for being in the country could be determined.
