Turkey has become stronger with no threats to its economy after the failure of Friday's coup, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Simsek said Sunday.

ANKARA (Sputnik) — Late on Friday, Turkish authorities said that an attempted coup took place in the country.

The coup was suppressed several hours later. Over 260 people were killed and hundreds were injured during the events, while nearly 3,000 people have already been detained.

"Today, I will hold a teleconference with our most important investors. The country is returning to normal life. Our macroeconomic foundations are sound. We are undertaking all necessary measures, we became even stronger with the support of our people and with increasing political stability," Simsek said in his official Twitter account.
