Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has called for common measures amid the threat of Daesh (IS, also known as the Islamic State), stressing that it is crucial to prevent oil trade by the terrorists and that weapon supplies to them must be stopped.

ULAANBAATAR (Sputnik) – The Russian prime minister added that in order to thwart Daesh in Syria, all the relevant UN Security Council resolutions must be adhered to, including on cutting the export of oil by terrorists and the deliveries of weapons and other contraband to them.

"The expansion of the so-called Islamic State which is trying to spread its activities to other regions is one of the key challenges to international stability. It is our common problem," Medvedev said at the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) forum in Mongolia's capital, adding that the key objective "is to work out effective response measures together."
