MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Friday, Turkey was rocked by an attempted military takeover in the capital Ankara and the country’s largest city Istanbul.

"We are trying to see if there [in Turkey] is any Cypriot citizen that needs assistance. We set an emergency phone number," the press officer said.

According to Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, the coup resulted in more than 180 people killed and 1470 injured, while about 2,800 coup perpetrators had already been arrested.
