MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Late on Thursday evening, a heavy truck hit a crowd celebrating the Bastille Day in Nice, killing 84 and injuring dozens more.

"In light of the heartbreaking news from Nice, I am cancelling today's campaign launch," Smith wrote on Twitter.

The leadership contest comes after late June rebellion against the sitting leader, Jeremy Corbyn, which saw half of the shadow cabinet resign in protest at what they claimed was Corbyn’s inability to head the main opposition party after Brexit.
