All parties in Turkey should support the elected government of Turkey against the ongoing military coup attempt and avoid violence, the White House announced Saturday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The announcement was made after a conversation between US President Barack Obama said and Secretary of State John Kerry, who is in Moscow.

"The President [Obama] and Secretary [Kerry] agreed that all parties in Turkey should support the democratically-elected Government of Turkey, show restraint, and avoid any violence or bloodshed," the White House stated on Friday.
