WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The G20 meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors scheduled for July 23-24 in Chengdu, China, will focus on global growth and consequences of Brexit, IMF Communications Department Director Gerry Rice said in a briefing on Thursday.

"The main topic for everyone at the G20 will be the state of the global economy…more sustainable, more inclusive increased growth," Rice stated when asked about IMF’s priorities at G20.

Rice noted that the G20 summit will also focus on the economic consequences of the UK’s decision to exit the European Union.

"We think it [Brexit] will have a negative effect on growth for the UK, for the European Union, and more broadly potentially for the global economy. I would imagine that this would be a topic that will be a focal point at the G20 as well," he said.
