MOSCOW (Sputnik) — UK’s Chancellor Philip Hammond said Thursday there are no plans for an emergency budget, adding he will make an Autumn Statement on economy to parliament in fall.

"No. The prime minister made clear we will make an Autumn Statement in the usual way in the autumn, and we will look carefully over the summer situation," he replied to the question by Sky News whether there would be an emergency budget.

"There is a lot of work now to do," Hammond said. "I’m seeing governor of the Bank of England and we will take stock of where we are."

Former UK Foreign Secretary Hammond was appointed finance minister on Wednesday, just hours after Theresa May, the ex-home secretary, became the nation’s new prime minister.
