US-Led Coalition Conducts 27 Strikes on Daesh Positions in Syria, Iraq

The US-led coalition against the Daesh conducted ten airstrikes in Syria near three cities, including Manbij and Palmyra, and 17 strikes in Iraq near 11 cities, including Mosul and Ramadi, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM).

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US-led coalition against the Daesh conducted 27 airstrikes against the terror group’s positions in Syria and Iraq on Tuesday, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a press release.

"In Syria, coalition military forces conducted ten strikes using bomber, attack, and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL [Islamic State] targets," the release stated on Wednesday. "Additionally in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 17 strikes coordinated with an in support of the Government of Iraq."

The ten airstrikes in Syria hit positions near three cities, including Manbij and Palmyra, destroying three Daesh’s oil wellheads, five tactical units, two vehicles and eight fighting positions.

In Iraq, 17 airstrikes hit positions near 11 cities, including Mosul and Ramadi, destroying staging areas, weapons caches, vehicles, machine guns, tents, bunkers and artillery.

The US-led coalition of more than 60 nations has been carrying out airstrikes in Syria and Iraq since the summer of 2014.

The Daesh terrorist group, also known as Daesh, is outlawed in the United States, Russia and numerous other countries throughout the world.
