US Voters See Clinton Adoption of Sanders’ Leftist Populism as Big Expense

82 percent of US voters think that no-free-lunch axiom of economics also applies to presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s call for tuition-free college, poll reveals.

WASHINGTON, July 14 (Sputnik) — Some 82 percent of likely US voters understand that the no-free-lunch axiom of economics also applies to presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s call for tuition-free college, a new Rasmussen poll revealed.

"[Senator] Bernie Sanders yesterday endorsed Clinton, his former rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, in part because she has picked up his plan for tuition-free college," the survey explained.

The left-wing populism of Sanders bedeviled Clinton throughout the presidential campaign until Tuesday, when Sanders formally endorsed the former US secretary of state.

Sanders not only called for free college, he advocated a sharp rise in the US minimum wage and called for a $1 trillion jobs program to fix the nation’s ailing roads, bridges and other infrastructure.

Moreover, as the price for his endorsement, Sanders forced the Democratic Party to adopt many of his proposals prior to the national nominating convention later this month with little consideration of cost, according to political analysts.
