Dozens of Flights Delayed at Moscow Airports Amid Thunderstorm

Dozens of flights were suspended at Moscow airports amid heavy rain and strong winds that hit the Russian capital late on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – According to Domodedovo International Airport data, 11 departure flights were delayed as of 23:40 Moscow time on Wednesday (20:40 GMT). No flights were cancelled at the Domodedovo airport.

At Sheremetyevo International Airport, 15 flights were delayed as of late Wednesday. One departure flight was suspended at Vnukovo International Airport.

"Flight delays were 10-20 minutes at the most, the airport is currently working in normal mode," a Sheremetyevo source told RIA Novosti.

According to the Russian Emergencies Ministry, thunderstorms will last until Thursday morning in the Moscow area.
