Death Toll in Syrian Aleppo Shelling Rises to at Least 30, Over 150 Wounded
BEIRUT (Sputnik) — On Wednesday, the Syrian armed forces announced a 72-hour "silent period" throughout the country until Friday. The period of truce coincided with the Eid al-Fitr holiday that marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Despite the declared silence regime in Syria, the shelling of residential areas of Aleppo for the past two days left 44 civilians dead and over 300 wounded, according to a source in city's central hospital.

In recent weeks, the situation in Aleppo and surrounding areas has deteriorated, as various militant groups, including al-Nusra Front have been shelling the city.
