The suspect in the overnight attack in Dallas that killed at least 5 policemen, wounded 8 others and 2 civilians, said he was upset over the recent police shootings of black men and wanted to kill white people, police chief David Brown told journalists.
"The suspect said he was upset about Black Lives Matter," said Brown. "He said he was upset about the recent police shootings. The suspect said he was upset at white people. The suspect stated that he wanted to kill white people, especially white officers."

"If there is anyone out there that is involved in this, we will find you and we will prosecute you and we will bring you to justice," he said.
The suspect made the comments before he was killed by an explosive used by police, Brown added.

"We had an exchange of gunfire with the suspect. We saw no other option but to use our bomb robot," Dallas Police Chief David Brown told reporters at City Hall.

The slain suspect of Dallas shooting told negotiators he was not affiliated with any group and acted alone, Dallas police chief David Brown said Friday.
"The suspect stated he was not affiliated with any groups and he stated that he did this alone," Brown said at a press conference.
Earlier in the day, US President Barack Obama said that the deadly Dallas shooting was calculated and all involved will be held accountable.
Five Dallas police officers were shot and killed at a protest in the city that took place following the death of two black men who were killed by police in separate incidents in Louisiana and Minnesota.
Obama condemned the "vicious, calculated and despicable attack on law enforcement" in Dallas. He added that the police officers were "targeted" by multiple suspects.
"Anyone involved in these senseless attacks will be held fully accountable, justice will be done," Obama said, speaking at a press conference in Warsaw.
Police believe that the Dallas shooting of law enforcement officers was carried out by at least four people working together.
