Lower House of the German parliament (Bundestag) adopted Thursday a law on integration of migrants and refugees, German Interior Ministry reported.

BERLIN (Sputnik) – The law simplifies access for migrants and refugees to labor market as well as educational and integration courses. The new legislation also provides a number of sanctions against those asylum seekers who refuse to be involved in integration – for example, do not learn German.

"With the integration law we make demands on people, who perhaps want to stay here. We are demanding something from them and also supporting them… We are talking about speaking our language, having own income and respecting our law," Thomas de Maiziere, German Interior Minister said as quoted by the ministry’s press release.

Germany has become a key destination for hundreds of thousands of migrants coming to Europe. According to de Maiziere, the country received around 1.1 million registered migrants in 2015.
