Poland Plans EU Reform Proposals After Brexit Vote - Prime Minister
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Poland will not put pressure on the UK government to kick-start the procedure of the country's withdrawal from the European Union, Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski said Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, the minister attended the Saema European Affairs Committee and provided information on the legal and political consequences of the Brexit referendum.

"We assess the outcome of the referendum in the United Kingdom as a sovereign decision of the citizens of the United Kingdom. We respect this decision, though we would like to continue cooperation with the United Kingdom within the European Union…Poland won't put pressure on the British government to kick-start the procedure of exit from the European Union," Waszczykowski said.

The minister also stressed that the UK decision was a precedent.

"This is just the beginning of a difficult and unpaved path. In the coming weeks, perhaps months, a lot of decisions, that can shape the future not only of the UK but of the entire Europe, will be taken," he added.

On June 23, the UK voters took part in the referendum and decided to back the UK exit from the European Union.
