US-Led Coalition Launches 22 Airstrikes Against Daesh in Syria, Iraq

According to US Central Command, US-led coalition against the Daesh carried out 22 airstrikes against targets in Syria and Iraq on Monday.

US-Led Coalition Launches 16 Airstrikes Against Daesh in Iraq, Syria
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) The US-led coalition against the Daesh carried out 22 airstrikes against targets in Syria and Iraq on Monday, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a press release.

“In Syria, coalition military forces conducted 11 strikes using attack, bomber, fighter, and remotely piloted aircraft against Daesh targets,” the release said on Tuesday. “Additionally in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 11 strikes coordinated with and in support of the Government of Iraq.”

In Syria, the airstrikes waged near Abu Kamal, Manbij, Ayn Isa, and Washiyah destroyed three Daesh vehicles, six oil well heads, as well as eight fighting positions, according to the Central Command.

Meanwhile, the airstrikes in Iraq were carried out near six locations, including Ramadi, Mosul and Sinjar, and destroyed two Daesh positions, a trench, an excavator, an aircraft hangar, three vehicles, 18 rocket rails, 11 rockets, a boat, a checkpoint as well as a vehicle.

The US-led coalition of more than 60 nations has been conducting airstrikes in Syria and Iraq against the Islamic State since the summer of 2014. The terrorist group, which is also known as Daesh, is outlawed in the United States and Russia, among numerous other countries.
