On Saturday, the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) and 68 Russian athletes submitted an appeal to the International Association of Athletics Federations' (IAAF) decision to ban Russian athletes from international competitions.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The appeal will be considered by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on July 19, the ROC said Sunday.

"Yes, the appeal was submitted by the Russian Olympic Committee and 68 athletes to the Court of Arbitration for Sport yesterday [Saturday]…the appeal will be considered on July 19," the head of the ROC legal department, Alexandra Brilliantova, told R-Sport.

On June 20, the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) upheld the suspension of the International Association of Athletics Federation's (ARAF) membership, virtually banning Russian athletes from the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) is about to file a lawsuit with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to restore Russian athletes' right to compete in the Olympics.
