The process of visa-regime liberalization between Russia and Mexico is progressing slowly.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian-Mexican dialogue on the liberalization of their respective visa regimes is progressing very slowly, Russian Ambassador to Mexico Eduard Malayan told Sputnik on Thursday.

"There is a delegation from Mexico's Senate here. We met in the Council of the Federation and raised this issue because we would like Mexico to sign a visa waiver as many other Latin American countries have done. We are pushing the case, it is hard but we keep pushing," Malayan said.

Russia, Mexico Continue Talks on Space Cooperation
The talks are hampered by Mexico's claim that it has already fulfilled the demands set by Moscow for visa liberalization, Malayan said, explaining that Mexico has eased the visa requirements for tourists only, and not for business visas.

Russia has already signed visa-free entry agreements with most Latin American nations, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guiana, Peru and Venezuela.
