American voters consider neither Donald Trump nor Hillary Clinton to be a good US president, a poll showed.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Most US voters say they do not think either presumptive Democratic or Republican presidential nominee Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump would be a good president of the United States, a Quinnipiac University poll revealed on Wednesday.

"Voters find themselves in the middle of a mean-spirited, scorched earth campaign between two candidates they don’t like," Assistant Director of the poll, Tim Malloy, stated. "And they don’t think either candidate would be a good president."

US voters said Trump would not be a good president by a margin of 58-35 percent; the same voters said Clinton would not be a good president by 53-43 percent, according to the poll results.

Moreover, the poll found Clinton and Trump are in a race that is too close to call, with Clinton receiving 42 percent of the vote to Trump’s 40 percent. When voters are given the option to consider third party candidates, voter support for Clinton drops to 39 percent and for Trump to 37 percent.
