MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia's Rubin Design Bureau for Marine Engineering (CDBME) has developed a project of the deep-submergence vehicle Vityaz, intended for conducting research at a depth of 11,000 meters (36,000 feet), which is the depth of the Mariana Trench, the company's 2015 annual report said.
"In the interests of the Foundation for Advanced Studies, CDBME Rubin on its own initiative carried out a preliminary design studies of the Vityaz vehicle, designed for the unique scientific research work at the extreme depths up to 11,000 meters, processing and development of instruments for the exploration of the World Ocean," the report, obtained by RIA Novosti, said.
In addition, the report said that the Design Bureau had built a prototype autonomous underwater vehicle Klavesin-2P-PM, designed to perform the search and survey missions at the depths up to 6,000 meters.
