The 348-seat Senate passed the legislation in the first reading by 185 to 156 votes after a fortnight of debates.

The draft law was heavily amended by the Senate’s Conservative majority to make it more business-oriented.

The Socialist-controlled lower house of the parliament was forced to wave the bill through in May and will vote on it again next month.
