MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The United Kingdom will remain a part of NATO, as well as a member of the UN Security Council, the Groups of Seven (G7) and the Group of Twenty (G20) despite the fact that the British nation has voted to leave the European Union.
"Let me stress that while we are leaving the European Union, we will still be full members of NATO, the UN Security Council, the Commonwealth, the G7, the G20," Cameron told the parliament.
On Thursday, the United Kingdom held a referendum to determine whether or not the country should leave the European Union. According to the final results, 51.9 percent of voters, or 17.4 million people, decided to support Brexit, while about 16.1 million opposed it.
