MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia's energy giant Gazprom is ready to resume talks with Ankara on construction of an underwater gas pipeline under the Turkish Stream project, company's spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov said Monday.
"We have always been open for dialogue on Turkish Stream, and we remain open now," Kupriyanov told reporters in Moscow.
Kupriaynov's comment comes shortly after the Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin had received a letter from his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressing readiness to resolve bilateral crisis caused by the downing of a Russian combat plane by the Turkish fighter jet last year.
