Victory of Brexit in Basildon Remarkable, Indicative - Labour Leave

The victory of the Leave camp in the key Basildon area is highly indicative of final referendum results, Brendan Chilton, leader of Labour Leave campaign, told Sputnik.

LONDON (Sputnik), Anastasia Levchenko – Earlier, Basildon voting results were released showing 67, 251 people backing Brexit (United Kingdom leaving the European Union) against 30,748 who voted to remain in the bloc.

"Traditionally, whatever way Basildon constituency votes, the country normally follows. Tonight Basildon voted by some 60% to leave, which is a remarkable victory. And we are also seeing that in Labour strongholds vote to leave the European Union, " Brendan Chilton, leader of Labour Leave campaign, told Sputnik.
