MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Russian Weightlifting Federation will file a suit with the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) over the Russian weightlifters ban from the Olympics, Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said Thursday.
"Of course, we need to respond. I think today or tomorrow the [Russian weightlifting] federation will file a suit to the CAS and will stand up for it all in court," Mutko said.
Mutko added that Russian weightlifters' ban from the Olympics is a decision which shows "disrespect toward athletes, and not to mention the states."
He also said that "the Russian government is ready to do everything in order to create and support the establishment of the anti-doping system which would satisfy everyone."
