Obama in a phone call to his Canadian counterpart Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Tuesday reaffirmed their joint commitment to fight terrorism following the deaths of US and Canadians at the hands of terror groups.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US President Barack Obama in a phone call to his Canadian counterpart Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Tuesday reaffirmed their joint commitment to fight terrorism following the deaths of US and Canadians at the hands of terror groups, the White House said in a statement.

"The leaders [Obama and Trudeau] reaffirmed their shared commitment to confront the scourge of terrorism," the White House stated,

On Monday, Trudeau confirmed reports that Robert Hall had been killed in the Philippines by the terrorist group Abu Sayyaf.

On Sunday morning, a 29-year-old US citizen, Omar Mateen, opened fire in a gay nightclub in Orlando, killing 49 people and wounding 53 others before being killed by police.
