Trump: True US Unemployment Rate at 20%, Four Times Higher Than Claimed
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The results of a poll carried out by Harris Poll in conjunction with a leading US employment firm, Express, showed Wednesday that 43 percent of those sampled had stopped searching for work.

Of those who have been jobless for over two years, almost 60 percent said they had given up, the poll conducted on May 5-17 among over 1,500 US residents found.

Forty percent confessed they expected the search for work to be difficult but found it "more difficult than I thought."

When asked for a reason behind their unemployment, 48 percent blamed themselves and 34 percent the economy. The poll also found that respondents spent on average 11.7 hours a week looking for work, down from 12.9 hours in 2015.

The unemployment rate in the United States currently stands at 5.5 percent, according to May figures by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics Data.
