Raytheon Outsources Weapons’ Propellant Production to Another US Firm

Aerojet Rocketdyne has signed a long-term agreement to supply the engines and other propulsion systems for an entire range of high-tech weapons made by Raytheon, the company said in a press release.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — As part of the agreement, the two companies will jointly pursue affordability initiatives through 2019, the release stated.

"Raytheon Company and Aerojet Rocketdyne… have entered into a new Strategic Sourcing Agreement (SSA)," the release stated on Tuesday. "Aerojet Rocketdyne will act as a principal and long-term supplier of its legacy portfolio of propulsion systems and energetics products for key weapons programs."

The agreement is an important step forward in collaboration between industry partners and the US government to achieve the objectives of Better Buying Power, Raytheon Missile Systems President Taylor Lawrence explained in the release.
